Water Series: Whirlpool

Whirlpool

My goal in all of my water series paintings was not to paint the water but to conjure the feeling of water in varying states.  I used layers of paint in different colors and also used a masking technique to bring out the texture and swirling nature of the whirling water in this painting.  The challenge in all of my water series paintings was to elicit the many ways water appears to move and capture it in a brief moment in time.
